The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, at the 2019 presidential election, was picked up by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Saturday morning, August 3, 2019.

Sowore confirmed his arrest via twitter, saying “DSS invades Sowore’s.” He later added another tweet which seemingly confirmed that his phone was seized while trying to raise the alarm about his arrest.

In the meanwhile, veteran singer and Nigeria Jagaja crooner, Eedris Abdulkareem in his rection to the incident lambasted the federal government, describing Sowore’s arrest as “ignoble arrest” that is “outrightly cowardly and defeatist.”

Abdulkareem on his Instagram page said, “the news of the ignoble arrest of the Revolution Now project convener Mr Femi Sowore is to say the least very regrettable and equally ludicrous.

“Arresting Mr. Sowore and trying to intimidate the citizenry is out-rightly cowardly and defeatist. Nigerians are truly tired of the status quo and desire, or rather demand a true change. Adding that no amount of intimidation or harassment is ever going to change this.

“Revolutionnow” is for every Nigerian, irrespective of class, creed or tongue…Indeed and truly, the future of our land is in our hands.

“It is therefore very imperative to mention at this juncture that the arrest of Omoyele Sowore instead of throwing us in disarray as they envisaged, have rather succeeded in energizing and propelling our collective zeal the more. Forward we March on the 5th of August. There’s no going back.”
