Governor Makinde Appoints Former U.I. SUG President as Political Adviser

The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday named a former Minority Whip of the House of Representatives and former Publicity Secretary of the pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, Hon. Babatunde Oduyoye, as his Special Adviser on Strategy and Political Matters.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, made this known in a press release, adding that the appointment came after the governor has secured the approval of the Oyo State House of Assembly to appointment 12 Special Advisers.

Babatunde Oduyoye, a seasoned politician of 30 years experience, and a national leader of the Alliance for Democracy holds a Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan, he studied Psychology as an undergraduate in the same University

The new Special Adviser is a politician per excellence, right from his university days, between 1985 /86, he won an election as the President of the students union Government, he served two terms in the House of Representatives, representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency between 1999 and 2007.

Aside being a one time chief whip at the green chambers, Oduyoye served in various House Committees including: Police Affairs, Education, Culture and Tourism and Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Until his appointment, Babatunde Oduyoye is the chairman/CEO of Majerita Ventures Limited; Majerita Hotels and Resorts Limited and Wawo Stores Limited.

The governor desired that the new Special Adviser would use his wealth of political experience to add value to his government as he wished him the best in his service to the state.
